The online meeting starts at 8:00 pm Japan time every Sunday, and members can join from 7:50 pm onward. During the meeting:
– We use a vinyl placemat for each individual which is wiped with disinfectant sheets before and
after use.

– We wipe the metal on each chair with disinfectant sheet after use.

More Important Ideas to Help Keep “In Person” Al-Anon Meetings Safe

During the current COVID pandemic, please do your best to keep both yourself and your fellows safe and healthy.

BEFORE THE MEETING

1 – If you feel unwell and / or have a cough, headache or mild fever, DO NOT attend the meeting
2 – Wear a face covering when you travel to the meeting
3 – Bring a bottle of alcohol hand sanitizer / rub with you to the meeting and extra face masks
4 – Bring a packet of alcohol surface wipes with you to the meeting
5 – Bring a small plastic bag to collect used wipes for their safe disposal after the meeting

ARRIVING AT THE MEETING

6 – The first person to arrive at the meeting should wipe the outside door handle with a surface wipe, then enter the room
7 – Please keep the room door open during the meeting and, if possible, open a window in the meeting room to help keep the room well ventilated
8 – DO NOT use the air conditioning during the meeting, as this has been shown to help spread the virus
9 – Please wipe the surface of the central wooden table with surface wipes / sanitizer before the meeting starts. Wipe down your chair if possible

DURING THE MEETING

10 – During the meeting, please follow as best as you can the WHO Guidance below:

  1. Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
  2. Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and others. 2 metres distance is better. Why? When someone coughs, sneezes, or speaks they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person has the disease.
  3. Avoid going to crowded places. Why? Where people come together in crowds, you are more likely to come into close contact with someone that has COIVD-19 and it is more difficult to maintain physical distance of 1 metre (3 feet).
  4. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and infect you.
  5. Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands. Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene, you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
